AMA Pro Racing Press Release:

The AMA Supermoto Championship continues to grow in its third season as a reborn National Championship with a TV package and two new venues for 2016.

Next season’s six-round schedule combines some of the series top venues with a couple of exciting new additions, starting with the all-new, state-of-the-art short track facility in Bakersfield, California, for its season opener at Kern County Raceway Park. For round two the series will return to New Hampshire Motor Speedway as a part of one two-wheeled racing’s legendary events – the Loudon Classic. Then America’s best Supermoto racers hit the streets of historic Downtown Sturgis for the third annual Metzeler Sturgis Supermoto race. The event moves to the Summer for a Fourth of July celebration with fireworks, Supermoto and Freestyle Motocross preceding the famous Sturgis Rally.

Sticking to the streets, the series pays a visit to our neighbors up north in Quebec City, Canada, for an all-new event alongside the World Rally X Series. Next the championship returns to Colorado National Speedway in Denver, Colorado, for a race that will be held in conjunction with the NASCAR SLM (Super Late Model) series as a one-day event. The series wraps up for the second year at a premier go-kart road course facility – Mussleman Honda Circuit in Tucson, Arizona.

“We’re really pleased to have put together a schedule that includes a variety of top venues that will showcase our sport to a wider audience,” said Matt Stewart of USA Pro Supermoto.

The New Year will also mark the return to TV for the sport after an eight-year absence. In addition to the global and national coverage of the main event in Quebec City, three venues will be featured on MAVTV Motorsports Networks with six episodes and a total of 12 airings. Unit Productions, spearheaded by well-known, motorcycle TV personality, race reporter and Executive Producer Greg White, will produce the national coverage.

“We’re really happy to bring Supermoto back to TV for the fans, the teams, the competitors, the sponsors and motorcycle enthusiasts alike,” said Stewart. “Being back on TV is one of the keys to keep the sport on track with its continued growth since our partnership with the AMA that reestablished the National Championship in 2014. We are also excited to be working with Executive Producer Greg White, who has a lot of experience with race coverage.”

White, who has been involved with two-wheel racing for a long time, was also looking forward to be a part of the sport’s resurgence.

“We are excited to be bringing AMA Supermoto back to television for 2016,” said White. “We intend on bringing you all of the excitement of Supermoto racing while showcasing the personalities that make up this thrilling form of motorcycle racing. Joe, Matt and the team at Supermoto are committed to reviving the sport and making sure its teams and athletes are healthy and happy by providing an outlet for sponsors and a chance for fans to be inside the action.”

Details of the venues and airdates will be announced at a later date.
